Global climate changes will lead to local impacts on oak ecosystems throughout the central hardwoods region, including shifts in habitat suitability for different species, changes in soil moisture regime, and effects on insect pests, diseases, and species invasion. In this presentation, I will give an overview of some of the anticipated climatic changes in the region and implications for oak-dominated ecosystems. I will then provide some case studies of what forest managers are doing to adapt oak ecosystems to these changes.
